Fil Am Tri is proud to have Richwood Borja as part of the team. He comes from a running background, taking on the sport since 2009. He happened upon FAT after seeing a finish line photo of his friend, TJ Generoso, from Fil Am So Cal. TJ had finished the Ironman Arizona 2010 and was donning the FAT Jersey. Curiosity worked in Richwoods’ favor and he Googled away to sign up. He also got a chance to meet up with Fil Am Tri Nor Cal in January 2011 to learn more about the triathlon sport.
When he’s not taking on tri training, Richwood keeps busy with traveling, snowboarding, watching sporting events, going to museums, and even finding time for fishing! Great swim training if you’re chasing after a fish.
His favorite and most memorable 2011 race was the Big Kahuna Triathlon (Half Ironman) last September. It was his first triathlon event so he had to learn and really focus on the swimming portion. As if taking on the water wasn’t enough, Richwood is hoping to take on the challenge of running an Ultra marathon 50k race and complete the Ironman Arizona in November all in this 2012 year!
Richwood has found inspiration in so many places. His favorite quote to go by: “Learn from yesterday, Live for today, Never give up” by Garneau. He thanks Fil Am Tri, his friends and family for their continuing support of his journey. Lastly, his ultimate drive and motivation to do an Ironman and continue to run marathons comes from his son Rion Jalen “RJ”. Now Richwood’s guardian angel, RJ watches over him and gives him the strength to continue everyday.
